A Nordic View: Foreign Investors in the Baltic States

On June 7 the Norwegian Chamber of Commerce in Latvia Chair of the Board Svetlana Kočerova (DNB Latvia branch) and Vice-Chair Frode Grønvold (Linstow Baltic), together with the Norwegian Ambassador Ine Måreng, participated in the panel discussion “A Nordic View: Foreign Investors in the Baltic States” during the 35th Annual Meeting and Business Forum of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The discussion brought together government representatives, leaders of international financial institutions, investors and business executives from different countries. The panel focused on foreign investors’ perspectives on the competitiveness, investment environment and future development prospects of the Baltic region.

A key takeaway from the discussion was that investors increasingly view the Baltic economies as having entered a new stage of development with growth driven less by cost advantages and more by innovation, digitalization, productivity and human capital. Participants noted that the region is steadily transitioning towards a high value-added growth model while continuing to attract strong investor interest.

At the same time Nordic companies reaffirmed their long-term commitment to the region. Investors also pointed to the region's highly skilled workforce, strong digital capabilities and ability to adapt to change as key factors underpinning its long-term competitiveness and growth potential.
